Halloween Candy Shake
October 29, 2015
It’s no secret that P90X creator Tony Horton loves Halloween. Whether he’s taking out his anger as a super-tough wrestler, training to fight the walking dead, or getting ready to save the world as Batman, he gets really enthusiastic about this haunted holiday.
But what he doesn’t love about this spooky time of year are all the sugary treats. When kids (or adults) devour a bag of fun-size chocolate bars or scarf down multiple handfuls of sugarcoated gummies, he knows that not only does this lead to major sugar highs and subsequent crashes, but it can also take a heavy toll on the scale.
Tony isn’t going to tell you that you can’t indulge in a sweet, chocolate snack at all. After all, Halloween only comes around once a year. Instead, he’s just come up with a much healthier option.
Inspired by the creamy flavor of those popular chocolate-coconut candy bars, in this video Tony shares one of his favorite “candy” Shakeology recipes. It features coconut milk, which makes the shake extra smooth, velvety Chocolate Shakeology, and almond butter, which adds a delightful nutty flavor. And, if you’re vegan, don’t hesitate to swap in Vegan Chocolate Shakeology instead!
Halloween might be scary, but what you eat doesn’t have to be. When you’re craving something chocolately, try and ease off the candy this year and try something that’s better for your body. This Halloween “candy bar” Shakeology recipe is a great way to get your fill of creamy chocolate.
Watch the video below to see how Batman – err…Tony – makes this simple, healthy shake. It only has 284 calories and a whopping 19 grams of protein. That’s pretty good for a sweet snack!
