Customer Spotlight: Adam Parnell
December 8, 2015
I would like for you guys to meet Adam. A relatively new customer to us, but one I’m getting joy out of knowing as well as having an amazing transformation….and the journey isn’t over! I picked him this month because not only can I relate to his story, but I have a feeling a lot of you will too.
On January 1st, 2014 Adam made a New Year’s resolution that would change his life. At 230 pounds and 5’8’’, Adam was tired of being unhappy with how he looked, but more importantly with how he felt. He hated having his picture taken. He avoided mirrors. Every time that he went to buy clothes, he was depressed at the size that he would have to purchase as it was a reminder of just how much he had let himself go. Enough was enough. He was 29 years old, and he made a promise to himself that his 30’s would be different, and he would be a happy, healthy and confident guy.
Being that Adam is someone who likes to challenge himself he went for the mother of all programs – Insanity. We always talk about finding your “soul” workout, and Insanity was just that for Adam. Shaun T has the innate ability to be able to motivate you and push you at the same time, and for Adam it was a winning combination. He went on to complete two rounds in a row. Through his love of this program, Adam became a huge believer in Beachbody as a brand, and as of today he has completed Insanity, Insanity Max:30, Les Mills Combat and the 21 Day Fix. Throughout his journey, Adam watched our YouTube videos because it helped him to be inspired, motivated and ready to succeed. This, along with hard work, dedication and eating the right foods, Adam eventually lost a total of 70 pounds all on his own. It truly changed his life and gave him the confidence that he had lacked for several years. He continued his workouts and was able to keep up his results for over a year by participating in a fitness group that kept him motivated.
Back in June, Adam recently got a new job, and like so many people out there the combination of stress, free food, unhealthy snacks and lack of motivation caused him to fall back into some old habits. He ended up gaining back 26 pounds of the weight that he lost. The fitness group that he was a part of also fell through, and he began to lose his way. Devastated and unwilling to go back to who he was in the past, Adam reached out to the to me so he could work with the guy who he said “unknowingly helped him during his original journey – Coach Todd!” Adam has just wrapped up month 1 of Insanity Max:30 and is on his way back to where he wants to be, losing 6.6 pounds.
It’s funny, I hear things like this all the time about how some of you follow us on YouTube, it’s a good reminder for me that those videos serve a purpose, sometimes we think “oh we’re just doing the same thing over and over” but it’s stories like this that keep us doing it. And it’s people like Adam who once I was able to connect with on the phone, made me so happy that we decided to be his coaches; otherwise I would have never had the pleasure of meeting him.
Adam, I’m so proud of you!
